The Falcons’ pass defense will be without its No. 1 cornerback Desmond Trufant when they face the Rams at 1 p.m. Sunday at Mercedes Benz.

Trufant, who has turf toe, was declared out of the game on Friday by coach Dan Quinn.

The Falcons’ pass defense gives up 271.2 yards a game and is ranked 27th in the league of 32 teams. The Rams’ pass offense averages  272.5 yards per game which ranks sixth in the league. The Rams were held to 78 yards passing last week in a 20-7 loss to the 49ers.

Rookie Kendall Sheffield started for Trufant at left cornerback last week against the Cardinals and played well.
