Former UGA running back Todd Gurley made his NFL debut with the St. Louis Rams after recovering from a knee injury. The No. 10 overall pick in this years’ NFL draft split reps with incumbent starter Tre Mason and Benjamin Cunningham against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

In the first half, Gurley carried the ball three times for only two yards and had a reception for five yards. He finished the game with six carries second only to Mason, but only managed nine yards in his debut. Gurley also caught one pass for five yards. Mason is still getting the bulk of the carries as the Rams ease Gurley back into live action.

The Rams running back corps were only able to gain a collective 71 rushing yards against a tough Steelers defense.

Gurley tore his ACL last November against Auburn on his first game back from his suspension. He was the first running back taken in the draft ahead of San Diego Chargers running back Melvin Gordon.

Gurley missed the entire pre-season and the first two weeks of the regular season rehabbing his knee.

Both St. Louis Rams fans and Todd Gurley fans were anxious to see the No. 10 overall pick in this years draft make his NFL debut. Gurley was heralded as the best back in the draft and expected to contribute right away once he hit the field.

Excited to see my boy Todd Gurley in the game. If he's anything like he was in Georgia, look out

Happy to see Todd Gurley running a football again. Also happy to know he won't be doing it against Vols anymore

Unfortunately for Gurley and the entire Rams backfield, the Steelers defense changed the tone of the conversation. The six rushes for nine yards didn't sit well with fantasy football owners who had high expectations for the rookie.

I'm glad they activated Todd Gurley to give him two runs through 3 quarters. Tre Mason is pretty good though

Rams longest rush today is 12 yds.
Not by 1st round pick Todd Gurley.
Not by 3rd round pick Tre Mason.
But by undrafted Benny Cunningham

Todd Gurley is terrible! 3 rushes for 2 yards against an average run defense. Giving me a solid 0 points through the half

We're y'all really expecting Todd Gurley to set the field on fire today?? 😒

Atlanta Falcons fans who were teased and tempted with the idea of keeping Gurley in-state with the eighth overall pick felt reassured that Vic Beasley was the better choice…so far.

Tbh, I'm glad we picked up Vic Beasley instead of Todd Gurley.
