The Falcons drafted tight end Austin Hooper in the third round of this year’s NFL Draft. Here are three things to know about Hooper:

At Stanford

He played two seasons for the Cardinal and turned pro early. He redshirted as a freshman in 2013. The Cardinal had a combined 20-7 record in his two seasons. He was chosen all-Pac-12 second team as a redshirt freshman and first team as a sophomore.

Junior season (2015)

He was a John Mackey Award finalist and played in the Rose Bowl for the Pac-12 champs. In that game, he caught three passes in the Cardinal’s 45-16 victory against Iowa.

Athletic family

His dad, Mike Hooper, played defensive end at San Diego State, after he chose the Aztecs over Stanford.

His uncle Greg Hooper played fullback at Stanford.

His uncle Chip Hooper was a professional tennis player.

His brother Justin Hooper is a freshman pitcher at UCLA.
