Here are five things to know about the Falcons on Wednesday:

1. Report date. The defending NFC champion Atlanta Falcons report for training camp today. Falcons general manager Thomas Dimitroff and coach Dan Quinn will address the media at 11:30 a.m. Players are schedule to report at 12 noon.  (Check back later for updates)

2. The roof won't be open. Mercedes-Benz Stadium's retractable roof won't be ready for action when the Falcons open their new $1.5 billion home next month.

Construction delays have thrown "mechanization" of the roof behind schedule and will force the stadium to debut with the roof closed, Steve Cannon, CEO of Falcons parent company AMB Group, said Tuesday.

3. How much to pay Freeman. Running back salaries are on the downswing in NFL. The Falcons are in negotiations to sign Freeman to a contract extension.

4. Vick a coaching intern. Former Falcons quarterback Michael Vick, who admitted to not diligently preparing during his stay with the Falcons, is a coaching intern with the Chiefs. Wonder what former offensive coordinator Greg Knapp and head coach Jim Mora think of this.

5. Battle time. The Falcons will hold their first practice on Thursday. Here are five position battles to watch.
