The latest news on the Green Bay Packers, who the Falcons will play Sunday in the NFC championship game at the Georgia Dome.
Packers add receiver
The Packers signed rookie receiver Max McCaffrey from the practice squad, adding depth at a position plagued by injuries.
Offensive lineman JC Tretter, who had knee surgery this week, was placed on season-ending injured reserve on Saturday to make room for McCaffrey.
Green Bay has listed three receivers as questionable for the Falcons game, including starters Jordy Nelson and Davante Adams. Nelson is recovering from broken ribs while Adams has an ankle injury.
Rookie Geronimo Allison also is questionable with a hamstring injury. Coach Mike McCarthy has said all three receivers may be game-time decisions.
Before McCaffrey was signed, the Packers had three healthy receivers in starters Randall Cobb and backups Jeff Janis and Trevor Davis
McCaffrey played in 53 games, including 38 starts in four years at Duke. He finished his collegiate career with 117 catches for 1,341 yards and 12 touchdowns.
McCaffrey's brother, Christian, played at Stanford and decided to forego his senior season to enter the NFL draft. McCaffrey's father, Ed, played 13 seasons in the NFL with the New York Giants, San Francisco 49ers and Denver Broncos.
Rodgers: Flu won’t be a factor
Packers QB Aaron Rodgers sounded hoarse Friday during his final news conference. He said he has caught the illness that has made its way through some team members this week.
Rodgers said he will get plenty of "rest, fluids, all that stuff" between now and Sunday's game. "We'll be OK," he said. "It's kind of going around. ... we're going to be OK and deal with it."
He was not listed on Friday's injury report.
Packers arriving a little late
The Packers’ charter plane to Atlanta for Sunday's game was unable to take off from Green Bay's Austin Straubel International Airport because of heavy fog, and the team was forced to bus 125 miles to Milwaukee in order to fly out, ESPN reported.
The team was originally scheduled to leave Green Bay at 2 p.m. local time. All commercial flights out of Green Bay and nearby Appleton on Saturday afternoon were canceled.
After waiting for nearly two hours, the Packers decided to bus to Milwaukee's General Mitchell International Airport, where the team plane met them, ESPN reported. It meant a much later arrival in Atlanta than expected -- they were not expected to arrive until shortly after 7 p.m.
