Things are starting to smooth out for Tennessee Titans defensive end Derrick Morgan.

On his return to Atlanta, the former Georgia Tech standout wants to turn in a big effort and could be the X-factor against the Falcons on Sunday.

Morgan, who was selected with the 16th pick of the 2010 NFL draft, played three seasons for the Yellow Jackets. He started the final 27 games and was named ACC defensive player of the year in 2009.

After four games in the NFL he suffered a torn ACL, but has recovered well.

“He’s really going to be a very good football player,” Tennessee coach Mike Munchak said. “His confidence is growing also.”

This season, while starting at left defensive end, Morgan has 22 tackles, two sacks and 12 quarterback pressures.

“He’s loves to play,” Munchak said. “He’s been playing a lot of snaps. He can do a lot of things — rush the passer well, and he plays hard. He’s a guy that should just continue to get better as the year goes on.”

Falcons right tackle Tyson Clabo, who went to the Pro Bowl last season, will be assigned to block Morgan.

“He’s really blossomed,” Falcons coach Mike Smith said of Morgan. “He’s done a very nice job.”
