Falcons kicker Giorgio Tavecchio was named the NFC’s special teams player of the week on Wednesday.

Tavecchio, a native of Milan, Italy, made field goals of 40, 50 and 56 yards in the 23-20 win over the New York Giants on Monday.

Tavecchio was signed to replace kicker Matt Bryant, who suffered a strained hamstring against Tampa Bay and is likely out two to three weeks.
