Ball State linebacker Anthony Winbush, was an All Mid-American Conference selection last season, when he had 16.5 tackles for losses and 11.5 sacks.
Winbush, 6-foot-1 and 240 pounds, could play outside in the 3-4 and maybe play rush defensive end in a nickel package, which teams use around 70 percent of the time.
Winbush has been training with defensive-line guru Chuck Smith in Duluth. He’s working on his movement, change of direction and functional football movements.
Dane Brugler of NFLDraftScout.com projects Winbush as a fifth- or sixth-round pick.
“Winbush is an undersized defensive end who will likely transition to a 3-4 outside linebacker spot,” NFL.com analyst Lance Zierlein said. “Winbush plays with a sense of urgency and determination that helped him make a high number of game-impacting plays over the last three years.”
