QB Corner: Matt Ryan not worried about Worrilow stealing signals

Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan and the team’s former starting middle linebacker, Paul Worrilow, used to match wits at practice.

Worrilow signed with the Detroit Lions and will face the Falcons on Sunday.

“Paul is a guy who did a great job for us here with the Falcons,” Ryan said. “I’m happy for him that he’s gotten an opportunity in Detroit. He’s got to play quite a bit in the first two weeks and has done a good job. He’s certainly a good player.”

Ryan said the Falcons will be ready if Worrilow tries to use some of the team’s old play-calls or signals.

“I think we’ll be OK,” Ryan said. “We do a lot of different things to keep people off balanced. I think we’ll be Ok.”

Ryan believes the offense will be fine if Ty Sambrailo has to start for Ryan Schraeder, who’s in the NFL’s concussion protocol.

“I think he did a great job for us in that game (against the Packers),” Ryan said. “It’s not an easy thing to do in-game, especially when you haven’t been here all that long. He did a really nice job for us.

“Obviously, he’s a consummate professional. He was prepared and ready to go. I think having a week to prepare will be good for him.”
