A few weeks ago, Roddy White sounded off to the AJC's Jeff Schultz about the Atlanta Falcons' Super Bowl loss.

During the "We Never Played the Game" podcast with Schultz and WSB TV's Zach Klein, White explained he would've challenged then-offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan over the play calling in the loss to the New England Patriots in Houston.

“I’m glad I wasn’t a part of that team because I probably literally would’ve fought him,” White said.

The target of his ire was the assumption NFL teams require an elite quarterback to win. He unleashed a series of tweets Monday night:

White, who was voted All-Pro in 2010, was referencing Super Bowl wins by the Ravens in 2000 with Trent Dilfer, the Bucs in 2003 with Brad Johnson, and Seattle in 2014 with Russell Wilson at quarterback.

Perhaps he was reacting to Kirk Cousins receiving the exclusive rights tag, or was he making a statement on Matt Ryan, who won the MVP Award - the first in Falcons history - but lost in the Super Bowl in historic fashion?

There’s no telling what sparked the tweets.

The Falcons released White, the franchise's all-time receiving leader, after 10 seasons in 2016. He is retired from the NFL.
