Falcons wide receiver Andre Roberts, who was off to a good start in training camp, missed practice Wednesday with what appeared to a leg injury.

“He is a tough guy,” Falcons coach Dan Quinn said. “We are hopeful that he’ll possibly do some stuff tomorrow. He really wanted to go today. From a training standpoint, they wanted to do some rehab with him.

“We are hopeful that he’ll (be back) in the next day or two. He had his best two days over the last couple, so I know he’s anxious to get back out there. ”

Roberts will get the first shot at the kickoff and punt returner jobs. He suffered a back injury during minicamp, but was healthy for the start of training camp.

Roberts, 29, was signed as a free agent from the Lions to a one-year, $1.8 million deal. He averaged 22.2 yards on kickoff returns and 11.7 on punt returns with two touchdowns last season.
