The Falcons are among a group of eight teams that are interesting in signing former Tampa Bay defensive tackle Gerald McCoy, according to Jenna Laine, who covers the Buccaneers for ESPN.com.

McCoy was released earlier in the week and played for new Falcons offensive coordinator Dirk Koetter, who was Tampa Bay’s coach from 2016-18.

The Falcons, Bengals, Patriots, Browns, Colts and Saints are the teams listed in the report.

According to NFL.com, the Panthers also are interested in signing the 31-year-old.

According  to Cleveland.com, the Ravens are interested, along with the Browns.

McCoy is expected to visit the Browns on Friday. He was set to make $13 million with the Bucs before being release.

The Falcons have only $2,340,879 million under the salary cap, according to NFLPA documents. The Falcons have just a projected $1,255,108, according to Spotrac.

The Falcons pick up $8.6 million from Ryan Schraeder ($6.4 million) and Brandon Fusco’s ($2.2 million) post-June 1 cuts, according to overthecap.com.
