FLOWERY BRANCH – The Falcons acknowledge that the offense has stumbled into the bye week.

After averaging 33.5 points over the first five games of the season, the Falcons have averaged just 16.7 points while going 1-3 over their last four games.

Over the bye week, Falcons coach Dan Quinn said the coaching staff will look into running more no-huddle offense.

“We’ll definitely look into that,” Quinn said. “We’ve got a big playbook. We have a lot of volume and our no-huddle package is certainly something that when it’s the right time to feature it, we certainly will.”

Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan, wide receivers Roddy White and Julio Jones believe that the offense needs to pick up the tempo and run more no-huddle. Ryan has also expressed his desire to attack with more of a killer instinct before Quinn elected to kick a field goal late in the loss to the 49ers.

“I know our players can execute it,” Quinn said. “It’s definitely a weapon for us. It’s one, for sure, we’ll look into it.”

Quinn didn’t seem to mind the players meeting to discuss the offense’s woes. He wouldn’t acknowledge if there were any more discussions with the coaches on the plane ride home from Santa Clara, Calif.

“Those guys are really close,” Quinn said. “So, for those guys to have a summit meeting, that’s pretty much every week. (laughs). I do know this, we have some terrific competitors.

“One of the best parts about this team is that guys are willing to go for it as hard as they can to get it right. I think that’s really what that….if it’s a summit meeting or a group getting together, there are such a chips on their shoulders as competitors that they are saying I’ll do whatever it takes to get ourselves right.

“Often times, the players do have really good ideas because there’s that ownership for it. This is my idea. I’m going to make it work. I love that they have that. I honestly do.”
