Pro Football Talk's Mike Florio said the Falcons are trending down this season and could be among the 2016 NFC playoff teams that fail to reach the postseason in 2017.

Florio discussed last season’s NFC playoff teams during Tuesday’s episode of Pro Football Live, looking at which ones helped themselves over the offseason, and which ones would likely struggle to replicate a successful 2016.

They begin talking about the Falcons at the 2:20 mark, and he’s skeptical the Falcons will be able to bounce back from the Super Bowl defeat.

“You have to go back to the Valley of Zero and Zero after being thrown off the top of the mountain by the Patriots,” he said. “I think it’s not gonna be easy for the Falcons. If they make it back to the playoffs this year after what they went through, (Falcons coach) Dan Quinn gets coach of the year votes.”

Florio was also skeptical or lukewarm toward most of the other 2016 playoff teams. The only team he said he thinks is trending upward is the New York Giants, due to their acquisition of wide receiver Brandon Marshall.
