Carolina cornerback Josh Norman was an unknown commodity coming out of Coastal Carolina as a fifth-round pick four seasons ago.

Now, because of his coverage skills and bizarre personality, he’s a household name to offensive coordinators around the NFL.

While he’ll receive some safety help, Norman will shadow Falcons receiver Julio Jones.

“He’s the No. 1 wide receiver in the league right now in yards and everything,” Norman said. “I’m the No. 1 corner.”

Norman believes that his battles with Jones last season earned him recognition as one of the NFL’s top corners.

While on ESPN’s “Sunday NFL Countdown” two weeks ago, Norman said, “Julio completes me.” He borrowed the line from the movie “Jerry Maguire.”

The talkative Norman has four interceptions and returned two for touchdowns this season.

“I think it’s one of my toughest, most competitive opponents that I look forward to each and every year,” Norman said. “He’s always at the top.”

Norman and Jones battled twice last season with Jones catching 10 passes for 117 yards and no touchdowns.

Jones, who lets his play do his talking, was complimentary of Norman.

Jones leads the league with 102 catches for 1,338 yards, but hasn’t scored in the past four games.

“I’m going to go out there and give all I’ve got, regardless,” Jones said. “It doesn’t matter who I’m playing.”
