Matt Ryan on the Buccaneers

Oct 31, 2015

Matt Ryan on facing the Tampa Bay Buccaneers:

Q: What do you see from Tampa’s defensive front on film?

A: I think they've got a really solid defensive front seven. To me, Lavonte David is a really solid linebacker. He's a guy that we've played against a number of times. He's as talented and as athletic as anybody. Gerald McCoy is another guy. He's a disruptive player, both against the run and the pass. He's physical at the point of attack. He does a great job.

Q: Last season’s first game notwithstanding, the Bucs usually play you tough. Are you expecting another rugged battle with them?

A: Every time, except for maybe once or twice we've played Tampa, it's been a tough and physical game. It comes down to a couple of plays late in the game where you have to find a way. I know it's going to be that type of game on Sunday. We have to be prepared for a 60-minute game.

Q: Is Jameis Winston fortunate to be able to work with Dirk Koetter as his offensive coordinator?

A: I think Dirk's a great coach, and I learned a ton from him the three years I spent with him. I think he's a great teacher, and he'll teach Jameis really, really well. He sees kind of the offense and the game through the quarterback's eyes, which makes a big difference. Dirk will get the best out of Jameis because I think he's a great football coach.
