Falcons rookie strong safety Keanu Neal looks forward to facing the Green Bay Packers and quarterback Aaron Rodgers.
“He can throw it,” Neal said. “He can move it around. It will be a great challenge for us.”
The hard-hitting Neal has caught Rodgers’ attention.
“You’re seeing the high effort, the guys flying around the field,” Rodgers said. “Neal is doing a good job. The defense’s roots are similar to Seattle and he’s kind in that Kam Chancellor role. He’s doing a really good job. He’s an impressive player.”
The Falcons’ young defense struggled against San Diego quarterback Philip Rivers. The defense is giving up 386.1 yards per game (26th) and 294.2 yards passing per game (31).
Rodgers is not off to a great start and has shown signs of slippage over his past 17 games. But the two-time MVP is still considered mighty dangerous by the Falcons.
“His strength and his knowledge,” Neal said. “He’s really intelligent with the ball. He can extend plays with his feet. Not too many quarterbacks can run, but he can. He’s top-notch.”
