Falcons All-Pro wide receiver Julio Jones ran routes during the individual period of practice on Saturday.
He’s battling some “tightness” or what coach Dan Quinn called a “tweak.”
“I’m just so explosive,” Jones said. “So I always get something that’s tight or something. I mean, it’s good. I’ll just keep getting treatment. I’m eating right and I’m hydrating. But I’m good. It’s nothing serious are anything like that.”
Quinn was pleased with Jones’ work. He held him out of contact drills on the first padded practice of training camp.
“We really wanted to see him explode and push off of it and make him feel comfortable doing that,” Quinn said. “He looked great doing that and we anticipate him getting back in the mix here shortly.”
Jones, who pulled from practice on Thursday and held back on Friday, felt his partial return went well.
“It was hot,” Jones said. “It was the first day in pads. I felt great being out here with my teammates.”
Quinn doesn’t plan to rush Jones back to practice.
“He’s fit and he knows it well,” Quinn said. “I’m not going to rush it, but I think it will be sooner rather later. But I don’t necessarily (know if) it has to be by tomorrow or by Tuesday, but I would be surprised if it wasn’t tomorrow or Tuesday…He really pushed it in individuals today.”
