FLOWERY BRANCH — Tennessee wide receiver Harry Douglas, formerly of the Falcons, spoke to the Atlanta media on a conference call on Tuesday.
Here’s what he had to say:
Q: How do you sum up how things have been going for the Titans after that season-opening win?
A: We've been doing a good job with some things. We just have been having trouble finishing games. That's one thing that we've been working hard at doing. We had a great practice today. We went back to some tough, hard nose football practice with everybody running around, flying around and doing a little hitting and thudding up. So, I think we're going to get on the right track.
Q: How are your ribs feeling?
A: They are progressing. They are doing all right.
Q: Treatment all week?
A: Yep. A lot of treatment.
Q: Have you talked to Roddy (White) and Julio (Jones) this week?
A: I talked to Rod this morning. I talked to Julio last week. We are still brothers. We still talk like normal.
Q: How difficult is it going to be playing against your old team?
A: You're a competitor. Once you get on the field, it is what it is. But, you know, off the field, those are my brothers. It's family. I love them and they love me. When we are on the field, we are all competitors and we want to win.
Q: What has happened to the offense in the last couple of games?
A: Just some things. We haven't been executing across the board on offense. Everybody has to do their job. Everybody has to finish. Everybody has to play their part to make this offense go. Like I said, we had a great practice today on getting back on the basics and doing things the right way.
Q: How has Marcus Mariota been coming along for the Titans?
A: Marcus is amazing. I have the utmost respect for him. He's a great player. He's going to be great in this league for a long time. I'm just thankful to be around him and be able to play with him and share these moments with him.
Q: How’s Zach Mettenberger coming along?
A: Zach has been doing good. One thing that I like about Marcus and Zach is that they have a great relationship. They push each other every day. It's good having a backup quarterback who can potentially start in this league. Having both of those guys push each other and work hard every day is amazing.
Q: What did you think of Julio Jones playing through those injuries?
A: I know how much he put into. I know how hard he works and how much he loves the game. He does everything in his power to be successful and help his team in any way possible. That's not just catching balls. That's blocking, putting in time at the complex and in the weight room. Being able to play with him for all those years I did, I know his work ethic. I know he's an unbelievable player. Like I said, he has a chance to be the greatest player to ever play this game.
Q: What do you think about the start to the season that he had?
A: It was an amazing start. It didn't surprise me because I've been around him for so long. I knew it was a matter of time before he had this break out start.
Q: What’s wrong with the Titans? You’ll don’t look like a 1-4 team on paper.
A: Our defense is doing a great job. We've been in every football game. It's a matter…. Four or five plays, but that's in any football game. …We have to work hard to get better.
