Falcons’ scout Bodenheimer promoted

FLOWERY BRANCH — The Falcons, who are in the final stages of revamping their scouting department, promoted James Bodenheimer to an area scout position recently.

Bodenheimer was a scouting assistant for the Falcons since Jan. 2015. He served internships with the Falcons, the San Diego Chargers and the New York Mets. He listed his promotion on linkedin.com as “May 2016.”

The Falcons hired Joel Collier to replace Lionel Vital, who elected to leave the team instead of accepting a demotion to national scout. He’s now with the Dallas Cowboys.

They added national scouts in former general managers Ruston Webster and Phil Emery. The Falcons moved former pro personnel men Bob Kronenberg and DeJuan Polk to the college scouting department, but Polk left to join Jacksonville Jaguars’ front office.

Mark Olson, who completed his 18th season with the Falcons’ player personnel department and his third year as a national scout, left to join the Detroit Lions as a regional scout.
