Reserve veteran offensive lineman John Wetzel was released by the Falcons, according to the league transaction wire on Monday.

The team did not make a BREAKING NEWS tweet like it did when Vic Beasley was not going to be re-signed.   The wire just stated:  TERMINATION OF VESTED VETERAN

Wetzel, 28, who was an on-and-off the roster player last season, played in 40 NFL games with 24 starts at right tackle, right guard and left tackle. He played in two games as a reserve last season.
