FLOWERY BRANCH — The Falcons hosted unrestricted free agent center/guard Ted Larsen for a visit on Thursday, the team announced.

As The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported from the owner’s meetings on Wednesday, the club is still in the market for a guard and are considering Larsen or re-signing guard Chris Chester, 33, who started 16 games for the team last season.

Larsen, 28, played the past two seasons with Arizona after playing his first four seasons in the NFL with Tampa Bay.

He has started at right guard, left guard and center. He’s played in 86 games and made 57 starts in the league.

Larsen was a sixth round pick by the New England Patriots in the 2012 draft out of North Carolina State.

Larsen has visited San Francisco and Seattle since the start of free agency.

He played 10 games for the Cardinals last season was rated as the 72nd guard out of 81 players by profootballfocus.com.

The Falcons also re-signed linebacker Philip Wheeler on Thursday. The team hosted former Baltimore linebacker Courtney Upshaw on Thursday.
