FLOWERY BRANCH – Falcons coach Dan Quinn has a plan to get ready for Tennessee, which has an injury issue with rookie quarterback Marcus Mariota.

He suffered a sprained medial collateral ligament in his left knee against Miami on Sunday and may not play when the Titans (1-4) host the Falcons (5-1) at 1 p.m. Sunday at Nissan Stadium in Nashville.

Former Georgia and LSU quarterback Zach Mettenberger may get the start.

“We are planning on one and until we feel differently, we’ll go,” Quinn said on Wednesday. “In this case they have a real distinctive style about how they play independent of which quarterback plays.”

Mariota is more of a mobile quarterback, while Mettenberger is the classic dropback quarterback with a strong arm.

“There are some certain things they may do with the quarterback who has the mobility of Marcus compared to not with Zach,” Quinn said. “That’s when the game plan will tweak some. As far as the run game, as far as the routes, that part is pretty consistent.”
