Falcons add some depth at running back

Aug 7, 2015

With their top two running backs out for two to four weeks with hamstring injuries, the Falcons signed running back Michael Ford and tight end D.J. Tialavea on Friday.

To make room they waived/injured tight end Beau Gardner and wide receiver Freddie Martino.

Ford gives them some additional depth with Devonta Freeman and Tevin Coleman, both out because of injuries.

Ford, 5-foot-10 and 216 pounds, originally signed with the Chicago Bears as an undrafted rookie free agent out of LSU in 2013. He played mostly on special teams for the Bears.

Tialavea, 6-4, 260, originally signed with the Jacksonville Jaguars as an undrafted rookie free agent out of Utah State in 2014. He also spent time as a member of the Buffalo Bills practice squad last season.
