Saints quarterback Drew Brees is 36 and clearly on the back nine of a fine career.

The analytics crowd has not been very impressed with his work over four games this season.

He’s ranked the 26th-best quarterback in the NFL by profootballfocus.com, tied with Denver’s Peyton Manning and Kansas City’s Alex Smith. They are rated just ahead of Cleveland’s Johnny Manziel, at 29th.

Brees has an overall negative-4.7 rating and a negative-4.7 rating in the passing game, by profootballfocus.com.

He’s averaging 7.7 yards per pass attempt on 184 dropbacks. Brees has connected on 113 of 170 passes (66.5 percent) and he’s been sacked 15 times.

This will be Brees’ third game since he missed the game against Carolina, a 27-22 loss, on Sept. 27.

He was shaky against Philadelphia in a 39-17 loss to the Eagles on Sunday.

“While he made several big-time throws downfield, including hitting Brandin Cooks for a 46-yard gain at 14:14 of the third quarter, this was a sloppy effort from Drew Brees,” profootballfocus.com wrote.

“The Eagles heavily punished his poor ball security under pressure, scoring immediately following both fumbles and his fourth-quarter interception, all of which occurred on the Saints’ side of the field.”
