Falcons general manager Thomas Dimitroff, who’s been with the team since 2008, believes that he’s “on the hot seat” heading into the 2016 season.

Dimitroff, in an interview on the Talk of Fame network with long-time pro football writers and Hall of Fame voters Ron Borges, Rich Gosselin and Clark Judge, discussed his tenure with the Falcons and the direction of the franchise, which has missed playoffs the past three seasons after reaching the NFC Championship game after the 2012 season.

Judge asked Dimitroff about being on the hot season.

“I understand what this job is,” Dimitroff said.

Dimitroff then talked about his tenure and said, “Of course, I’m on the hot seat. … This is a very urgent league right now. … This is about now. I understand it. … My job is to provide them with a winner.”

They also discussed the drafting of Matt Ryan, why they went after a center in free agency with other more glaring needs, the failed 2012 draft and the selection of center Peter Konz.

Dimitroff, a two-time winner of the executive of the year award, helped the Falcons build four playoff teams and win two NFC South titles.
