Falcons defensive tackle Corey Peters (Achilles) and rookie safety Dezmen Southward (concussion) were both full participants in Thursday’s practice, according to coach Mike Smith.
Smith repeated that Peters is ahead of schedule in his return from injury but did not say whether he will play in Sunday’s season-opener against the Saints.
“I don’t know if a decision has been made whether Corey is going to play or not,” Smith said. “But he is way ahead of schedule when this injury occurred back in late December. It’s almost unheard of being back on the field as a full participant. He is doing a great job.”
Peters participated in only his third padded practice on Wednesday.
Smith called the team’s limited injury report as “very positive.”
Practice squad defensive tackle Travian Robertson was not at practice Thursday due to an undisclosed personal issue.
“Travian has a personal matter that he is dealing with,” Smith said. “Our thoughts and prayers are with Travian and his family.”
