If the Falcons win over the New Orleans Saints on Sunday, they will stay at the No. 2 seed in the NFC playoff picture and receive a first round bye — but coach Dan Quinn doesn’t want his team thinking about the potential bye yet.

“We talked really about what we want to stand for in the division first, and then we’ll talk about those kind of things next week,” Quinn said. “If we put too much attention on what could be down the road, we’ll miss the coolest part of going through it with our team. We put our energy and our focus right on New Orleans… What we try to do is stay in the present moment and say, ‘(The playoff picture) can stay there as long as we do all we (can) do this week’ and that’s the message to this team.”

The Falcons played the Saints on Sept. 26 in the third week of regular season and won in the Saints’ Superdome 45-32. The two high scoring offenses battled the entire game, but the Falcons kept a lead from the second quarter on racking up 442 total yards to the Saints’ 474 total yards.

The Saints (7-8, 2-3) have won their past two games against the Arizona Cardinals and Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
