Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan doesn’t know what to expect from the New Orleans Saints, who have a new defensive coordinator in Rob Ryan and have changed to a 3-4 defensive scheme.

Here’s a brief Q&A involving Ryan and The Atlanta Journal-Constitution’s D. Orlando Ledbetter.

Q: How challenging is it to prepare for a Rob Ryan defense?

A: With a new coordinator coming in you, don't have all of their scheme out there with the personnel that they have. We're going to be ready to adjust. In cases of the first game of the year, it's a lot about what you do and understanding your game plan and your scheme. If we are locked into our plan and we know what we are going to do, we're going to be able to handle what they throw at us.

Q: Will it be different without Jonathan Vilma and Will Smith out there for the Saints?

A: It's some different personnel from what we've seen and what we've grown accustomed to having gone against them for (five years). But they've got some talented guys coming in behind them. We know every time that we go down there, it's a tough and hostile environment.

Q: What will it be like out there without running back Michael Turner, who has been replaced by Steven Jackson?

A: Steven has done an excellent job of coming in here and learning the offense and learning the scheme. Also, showcasing what he can do athletically. He's been one of the best backs in the NFL for his entire time in the league. It's definitely going to had another dimension to our offense.
