Here’s what Matt Ryan had to say about the Panthers ahead of Sunday’s game, set for 1 p.m. at Bank of American Stadium in Charlotte:
Q: What do you think of the Panthers’ pass rush?
A: "They have been very good. I think they are leading the league in sacks. (They are with 36 sacks) They are physical in the front seven. They have got a number of different guys who can do it and rush the passer."
Q: With (former Falcons) Bruce Irvin and Dontario Poe on the Panthers' defense, will they be more familiar with the offense?
A: "You know strengths and those kind of things from having practiced against them, but the scheme is different. What they are doing schematically is different from what they had done here. It's a little bit different. They are good players – that is what we do know. They are both physical players who are relentless and play with great effort."
Q: How are Gerald McCoy and Dontari Poe doing side-by-side on the Panthers’ line?
A: "They have got talent across the board on the defensive line. With Gerald (McCoy) coming over from Tampa, he is a disruptive player who is really good against the run and against the pass. Poe, we know him, he is strong and very good and stout in the center of the defense. He (Poe) compresses the pocket and does a nice job with that. It is a very good front seven."
