Matt Ryan has taken a different approach to his third trip to the playoffs. He’s turned off his TV set and is not paying any attention to all of the pregame hype.

He enters the playoffs with an 0-2 record, but is coming off one of the more prolific passing seasons in franchise history, in which he set a single-season yardage mark with 4,177 yards.

Here’s a brief Q&A involving Ryan and The Atlanta Journal-Constitution’s D. Orlando Ledbetter.

Q: How important will it be to establish the run against the Giants?

A: We're always better off when we run the football well. [Michael Turner] had a great game last week. That's something that we'd like to carry over into this week, and it's not going to be easy. It's a very good defense we're going against, very good front four, but our offensive line has done a great job.

Q: How does the Giants secondary stack up?

A: Their secondary does a good job. They play a lot of man-to-man coverage. They're physical at the line of scrimmage. They try to disrupt the timing. They also do a great job, the safeties do a great job, of coming down in run support.

Q: Does how the Giants move defensive end Jason Pierre-Paul around cause a concern for the offense?

A: He's a really talented player. Extremely athletic, physical. They do a great job with their scheme of moving him around, trying to create matchup problems for us. I think the biggest thing is going to be identifying not only where he's at, but identifying where a couple of those guys are and communicating well as an offense to set up our protection. If we do that, I think we'll be all right.
