Falcons defensive end Adrian Clayborn was fined $18,231 for a high hit on New England quarterback Tom Brady last week by the league office.

Clayborn’s penalty opened the floodgates against the Patriots in a 23-7 loss on Oct. 22.

In a scoreless game, Brady’s pass on second down-and-6 from Atlanta’s 31 with 13:27 to play in the second quarter was intercepted by cornerback Robert Alford.

Instead of having the ball, the Patriots got a first down and went on to score to make it 7-0 after Clayborn was called for roughing the passer.

The Patriots went on to build a 23-0 lead in what was billed as a Super Bowl LI rematch.

Clayborn joins defensive tackle Grady Jarrett and linebacker De’Vondre Campbell, who were also fined $18,231 for hits on Miami quarterback Jay Cutler on Oct. 15. Jarrett’s hit also nullified an interception.
