Team officials have been sitting down with those from the Oakland Raiders to have a $1.7 billion joint stadium that will be located in Carson, California.

While there had been rumors, the Chargers front office had not confirmed the plans until this weekend.

The Chargers are also talking with officials in San Diego to build a stadium in the city’s downtown area. Right now they play in the Mission Valley area.

Some believe the relocation to Los Angeles is a bargaining ploy to get San Diego to agree to that new stadium.

There has also been talk of the St. Louis Rams moving from Missouri to a separate $1.8 billion football stadium in California's Inglewood area, St. Louis Post-Dispatch reported.

The Rams moved from Los Angeles to St. Louis in 1995 after 49 years in California, according to the Rams' website.
