Bucs showed Freeney a lot of respect

Falcons defensive end Dwight Freeney played 25 of the 64 defensive snaps (39 percent) against Tampa Bay.

That’s a little more than the Falcons would like to play the 36-year-old veteran each week.

“When Brooks (Reed) went down he added a few more reps to it,” Falcons coach Dan Quinn said. “I think that would be the kind of higher end as we are just getting rolling on it.”

Even though Freeney didn’t have a sack, he showed that he can still get up field. The Bucs showed him respect by leaving a back to help chip block on him and sometimes he was even double-teamed.

Freeney did have a quarterback hit against the Bucs. The Raiders didn’t yield a sack on 44 pass attempts last week.

“The do a pretty good job pass protection wise,” Freeney said. “It’s going to be a challenge for us to put some pressure on them.”
