In double overtime, Georgia Tech went for two. Paul Johnson explained the play call in his post-game press conference Monday night.

“It was a counter action,” coach Johnson explained. “We’d set up and we’d run a bunch of two-point plays out of that web thing, a pick screen out of the thing, so we are going to bring the motion, and they took the safety over there, it was going to be a time out, so all they’ve got left is a five technique and a hip linebacker, so we’re supposed to be able to release and pull the guard along the five.”

Instead, Tennessee stopped the Yellow Jackets and won in double overtime 42-41.

Fans responded after the play with their thoughts on Georgia Tech’s call.
