PGA Champion Jason Dufner, an Auburn alum, will honor former football player Philip Lutzenkirchen with a special patch on his golf bag during the British Open.

Philip Lutzenkirchen, 23, a member of Auburn’s 2010 national championship-winning team and a former star at Lassiter High died in a single-vehicle accident June 29 outside La Grange, Ga.

Lutzenkirchen was one of the most prolific tight ends in Auburn history, and holds the school record for most touchdown catches (14) by a tight end. He finished his Tigers career second in total receptions (59) and third in receiving yards (628).

Auburn fans honored Lutzenkirchen during an impromptu rolling at Toomer's Corner last week, and thousands more celebrated him at a memorial Thursday in Marietta.
