Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan has faced the Dolphins once in the regular season in his career.

The Falcons opened the 2009 season, the last time they didn’t make the playoffs, with a 19-7 victory over the Dolphins at home.

Here’s a brief Q&A involving Ryan and The Atlanta Journal-Constitution’s D. Orlando Ledbetter.

Q: What’s your impression of Miami defensive end Cameron Wake?

A: Cameron Wake is a really good player. He's got a great motor. He's extremely physical. He's really good with a bull rush. He's really good with an outside rush, and he's really good when they drop him in pass coverage. He's a long and athletic guy. I'm very impressed with him.

Q: Dolphins linebacker Philip Wheeler said that you’re not as athletic as Colts quarterback Andrew Luck in getting away from pressure. Is that true?

A: (Laughs). I don't think that's a surprise. I don't think that's a surprise to anybody. Andrew Luck's one of the more athletic guys in the (NFL). But I'm certainly confident in my own skill-set.

Q: What will it be like to see Brent Grimes over at cornerback for the Dolphins?

A: We know that he's a really good player, having played against him in practice every day. We've seen some of the amazing plays that he's come up with over my first five years here. I know that he's a really good player. We're going to have our work cut out for us going against him.
