Mount Pisgah quarterback Aaron Winchester has committed to Georgia State.
Winchester, 6-2, 185 pounds, is a dual-threat quarterback. He passed for 2,150 yards and rushed for 1,025 last year with 31 touchdowns and four interceptions.
“He’s a great kid,” Mount Pisgah quarterbacks coach John O’Connor said. “Ultra-competitive. Great leader. His football IQ is through the roof.”
Winchester was recruited by Georgia State quarterbacks coach Luke Huard, who met with Winchester during the spring. O’Connor said Georgia State remained in touch and offered Winchester during a camp two weeks ago.
“Aaron’s a pretty loyal kid,” O’Connor said. “He wanted to go someplace where he was wanted. He felt super-comfortable with coach Huard and coach (Trent) Miles.”
On Tuesday, Georgia State picked up a commitment from athlete Penny Hart, of Kings Ridge Christian.
