Georgia Tech wide receivers Darren Waller and Travin Henry will not play in Saturday’s season opener against Elon for violating team rules. Coach Paul Johnson made the announcement Monday following practice. He did not offer more detail.

Waller is a projected starter as he is the only healthy wide receiver on the roster with any career catches. Waller had received praise for his performance in in the preseason.

The depth chart released Monday has Micheal Summers at the top along with Corey Dennis and DeAndre Smelter sharing the other spot. Smelter has not been practicing since last week due to injury, Johnson said, but is expected to be available on Saturday. Their backups indicate the dearth of options at the position - walk-ons Jamie Alvarez and Brandon Oliver.
