Former Utah quarterback Conner Manning tweeted on Wednesday that he is transferring to Georgia State.
Manning tweeted “I am very excited for the next step in this journey of continuing my …” followed by an Instagram photo of the Georgia State logo with another message about enrolling in graduate school.
Manning, 6-foot-1, 205 pounds, is a graduate transfer and will have two seasons of eligibility remaining, according to his bio on the Utah page.
He played in one game in his career at Utah.
He was a high school standout in California, breaking Matt Barkley’s record for single-season passing yards in 2011 when he threw for 4,219 yards as a junior at El Toro.
Manning will join redshirt sophomore Emiere Scaife and redshirt freshman Aaron Winchester in the competition to replace Nick Arbuckle, recently named the Sun Belt Conference student-athlete of the year after passing for more than 4,300 yards.
The Panthers should return eight starters on offense and nine on defense and should be among the favorites to compete for a conference title next season.
