It wasn’t exactly a scientific diagnosis, but according to Georgia defensive coordinator and secondary coach Jeremy Pruitt, Shattle Fenteng is “gonna be fine.”
Fenteng, a junior college transfer in line to start at cornerback for the Bulldogs, left Monday’s practice with an apparent shoulder injury. Pruitt couldn’t say when Fenteng will come back but inferred that the injury is only minor and won’t likely affect his availability for the season opener against Clemson in 25 days.
“He’ll be all right,” Pruitt said. “He’ll be fine.”
Asked if Fenteng would be out for a period of time, Pruitt said, “Nah. I don’t know if he’ll be able to go today or not, but he’ll be all right.”
UPDATE: Fenteng was dressed in a green, non-contact jersey and was present at Tuesday's practice but did not participate.
Fenteng is a 6-foot-2, 190-pound junior who was rated the No. 1 cornerback in junior college coming out of Hutchinson Community College. He’s orginally from Grayson where he starred for the Rams his last two seasons.
