UGA honors stars of spring practice

Wide receiver Reggie Davis, tight end Jay Rome and inside linebacker Tim Kimbrough were named the Georgia football team’s most improved players of spring practice.

They were among players honored at the team’s annual spring banquet Thursday night.

The Bulldogs play their annual G-Day intra-squad scrimmage at 2 p.m. Saturday in Sanford Stadium and then wrap up spring ball with two final practices next week.

Here’s the full list of award winners:

OFFENSE:

MVP: ­ Kolton Houston, OT

Coffee County Hustle Award: ­ Nick Chubb, RB; Isaiah McKenzie, WR

Most Improved Player: Davis and Rome

­ Hugh Hendrix Memorial Award (player who strains his potential): ­ Brandon Kublanow, OG; Brendan Douglas, RB

Outstanding Walk-On: ­ Clay Johnson, WR

DEFENSE:

Coffee County Hustle Award: ­ Jake Ganus, LB

Most Improved Player: Kimbrough

Hugh Hendrix Memorial Award: Josh Dawson, DE

Outstanding Walk-On: ­ Aaron Davis, CB
