Georgia celebrated the 50th anniversary of Vince Dooley’s first UGA team at halftime of Saturday’s game.

Dozens of members of Dooley’s 1964 team attended the game against Tennessee and were recognized along with their former coach on the field at halftime.

The Bulldogs went 7-3-1 in Dooley’s first season. He went on to coach the Dogs for 25 seasons, compiling a 201-77-10 record.

“I don’t think, in all of my 25 years as a coach, that I had a team that meant more to me,” Dooley said on a video tribute to his 1964 team played on the stadium scoreboard.

As part of the halftime ceremony, Dooley was re-presented a trophy commemorating his winning the inaugural “Bobby Dodd national coach-of-the-year” award in 1976.
