Georgia Tech commit Tre Swilling has been vocal about his effort to add talent to Tech’s 2017 recruiting class, but Swilling said he’s not doing it alone.

While other 2017 Yellow Jacket commits are vocal about their assistance in recruiting their singing class like Buford High School linebacker TD Roof, the future Yellow Jackets are also helped by Tech coaches.

Swilling said some of the targets he's recruiting are from Tech coaches' recruiting lists.

“They’re pretty involved in it,” Swilling said. “For me, I wanted to kind of be the advocate for Tech. (Coaches) can’t talk recruiting stuff as much as they’d like to during the season, so I kind of try to take some of the stress of their shoulders and keep in contact with them and give the recruits someone to talk to.”

So far, the Jackets’ 2017 signing class includes 13 verbal commits with the last commitments coming from June from Swilling, a 6-foot, 180 pound cornerback from Brother Martin High School in New Orleans, La., and his brother and teammate Bruce Jordan-Swilling, a 4-star running back at Brother Martin. Seven out of the 13 verbal commits were recruited as defensive players, four were recruited as offensive lineman and two are specialists.

While Swilling was quiet with names of who coaches and fellow 2017 Tech recruits are targeting, he did say that he’s confident that commitments will be coming in soon.

“To be honest, I’m talking to anyone,” “They can be whoever— defensive lineman, offensive lineman, they can be the best of the best or whoever, and especially if they have interest in the program, all we need is a few of those guys to come in and buy in and love the process of the program.”
