Center Freddie Burden, kicker Harrison Butker and defensive tackle Patrick Gamble were named to one of the All-ACC football teams on Monday in voting by the media that covers the conference and its teams.
The Yellow Jackets are 8-4, 4-4 in the ACC and will find out their bowl destination on Sunday.
Burden, a senior who was named third-team offense, helped Tech average 257.4 rushing yards per game in 11 starts. He was named the conference’s lineman of the week one time during the season following a 38-7 win over Vanderbilt. Burden was also named All-ACC by the media in 2014 and by the coaches in 2015.
Butker scored four points in last week’s win against Georgia to move into a tie as the school’s all-time leading scorer with 322 points. The senior was named honorable mention after scoring 76 points this season. He hit 11-of-13 field goals (19th best nationally) and all 43 point-after attempts. Butker also forced touchbacks on 47 kickoffs this season.
Gamble, a senior, was named honorable mention after making 43 tackles with 5 1/2 sacks. In the Yellow Jackets’ three-game winning streak to end the regular season Gamble had 19 tackles with 2 1/2 sacks, including a career-high 11 stops against Georgia.
It was the first All-ACC honors for Butker and Gamble.
