Georgia Tech coach Paul Johnson gave high marks to the team’s third practice of the preseason, conducted Saturday morning. The practice was conducted in shoulder pads and helmets.
“It went well, a spirited practice,” Johnson said.
The play of the day, according to B-back Zach Laskey, was a pass from quarterback Justin Thomas to wide receiver DeAndre Smelter on a slant route as the team worked on 3rd-and-6 situations.
“DeAndre had a nice catch over the middle that Justin threaded the needle on,” Laskey said. “He got hit both ways, but he held on to the football.”
The team will practice again Sunday and will go in full pads for the first time on Monday.
