Joe Tereshinski resigned his position on the Georgia football staff on Monday.

Joe Tereshinski Jr. stepped down as director of strength and conditioning, team spokesman Claude Felton confirmed. Tereshinski will carry out his duties until after the bowl game.

Tereshinski’s resignation comes just 48 hours after the Bulldogs lost to Georgia Tech 30-24 in overtime to finish the regular season 9-3.

Tereshinski, 61, played for the Bulldogs in the 1970s and has worked for the football program in one capacity or another since 1982. He was appointed director of the strength and conditioning program in 2011. The football team won 39 games in the four seasons Tereshinski oversaw that department.

Tereshinski is one of three generations from his family to play for the Bulldogs. His father, Joe Tereshinski, Sr., was an All-SEC performer in the 1940s. His brother competed with him on Georgia’s offensive line in 1976-77. And his son, affectionately known as “Joe T III,” played quarterback for the Bulldogs from 2004-06.

Tereshinski did not return calls seeking comment.

Georgia has three other full-time members on the strength staff. They are associate directors Sherman Armstrong and John Thomas and assistant director Gus Felder.
