Georgia Tech’s game vs. Boston College for Wednesday night at McCamish Pavilion has been postponed until Thursday. The game will be played at 5 p.m. and will be broadcast on Fox Sports South in Georgia.
According to a news release from Tech, the school made the decision to postpone in consultation with the ACC and Boston College. ACC policy stipulates that games will be played if both teams and the game officials can make it to the arena safely.
From the release: “Though both teams and game officials are in town, current weather and road conditions have made it dangerous and unsafe for many essential game operations personnel, game officials and fans to reach McCamish Pavilion safely.”
It is the first Tech game to be postponed due to weather since a road game at Clemson January 2011. A home game against Fordham in December 2010 was cancelled due to the Fordham’s not being able to leave New York due to weather conditions.
Tech is not scheduled to play again until its home game next Tuesday against Duke. Boston College’s next game is at home against Notre Dame Sunday. The Tech women’s team had a game scheduled at McCamish for Thursday at 7 p.m., against Virginia, but it has been postponed until Friday at the same time.
