Georgia Tech center Demarco Cox, who transferred in after graduating from Ole Miss, and forward Charles Mitchell, who transferred from Maryland and received an immediate eligibility waiver from the NCAA, plan to infuse the Yellow Jackets’ frontcourt with physical play and toughness.

“They do bring a much greater physicalness to the game than we’ve had over the last couple years,” coach Brian Gregory said at Tuesday’s media day. “That should help us in rebounding, that should help us in points in the paint and that should help us in anchoring our defense around the basket.”

Cox was lured to Tech in part by the Jackets’ post-oriented offense. During his recruitment this summer, Cox said that Gregory told him that “I would have a chance to get more touches in the first game than I got all year at Ole Miss. He told me that. I’m going to hold him to those words.”
