Tech cornerback D.J. White out for Florida State game

Oct 24, 2015

Georgia Tech cornerback D.J. White will not play against No. 9 Florida State, a costly loss for the Yellow Jackets in their attempt to upset the Seminoles. White, a senior and team captain with 30 starts to his credit, will be replaced in the lineup by Step Durham.

White was listed as questionable in the Thursday injury report with an undisclosed injury. It continues a season-long pattern of injury for Tech. He is the fifth player who has started this season to miss at least one game due to injury.

On the offensive side, the team has lost 43 games to injury among players expected to contribute this season.

B-back Patrick Skov, who was also listed as questionable, was not dressed in uniform for pre-game warmups, a strong suggestion that he would not be available. The other players listed on the injury report - linebacker P.J. Davis, safety Demond Smith and right tackle Errin Joe - were dressed for warmups.

White has brought a playmaking knack to the defense with seven career interceptions, two this season. The Florida State game is the first he will have missed since his freshman season.

Durham, a sophomore, was to make his first career start Saturday night.
